Blue Lightning was one of the Lynx's 1989 launch titles, developed by Epyx and published by Atari Corporation: first-person flight missions over jungles, deserts, and enemy bases, using sprite scaling that, at the time, amounted to a real show of force for a handheld console. Its role as a pack-in game made it, for countless users, their first real taste of what the Lynx hardware could actually do. Years later, Attention to Detail revisited it for the Jaguar CD with updated graphics, but the original 1989 version remains the historical touchstone: the game that convinced a generation that color and speed could fit in your pocket too.
