Arcana Heart came out of Japanese arcades with a clear pitch: an exclusively female roster and a system where each fighter picks an elemental 'arcana' that modifies her techniques, almost like a second layer of customization over traditional combat. Development was handled by Examu, a studio born from former Yuki Enterprise employees with a background in niche fighting games.
Its arrival in the US on PS2 made it a rarity within the Western fighting-game catalog, appreciated mostly by the more underground competitive circuit and by those looking for something different from Capcom or SNK on the shelf.
This system doesn't run in the browser yet (Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2 and Xbox are on the way as web emulation matures). The dossier, media and community are already all yours.
