Developed by Avalanche Software alongside Ritual Entertainment and published by Eidos Interactive, it lets you pick a side — cop or gang member — in a third-person shootout with a hip-hop soundtrack and a look aiming to imitate the pulse of Grand Theft Auto. The controversy over its depiction of violence between police and gangs earned it more press than sales, and critics received it coldly.
It remains a footnote in the mid-2000s wave of post-GTA clones: one of many attempts to trace Rockstar's formula without its pulse or its writing.
