Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex, developed by Cavia, adapts the anime series derived from Masamune Shirow's work, with Major Motoko Kusanagi and the rest of Section 9 leading infiltration missions and tactical combat in a futuristic Japan of cybersecurity and hacking. It aimed to capture the more procedural, police-drama tone of the animated series directed by Kenji Kamiyama, a different approach from Mamoru Oshii's original film.
For anime fans, it's still one of the few playable adaptations faithful to Stand Alone Complex's tone; its gameplay has aged unevenly, but the cyberpunk setting keeps its appeal.
