After the frenzy caused by Marth and Roy in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Nintendo finally dared to localize the saga Japan had been enjoying since 1990. This seventh installment, a prequel starring Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn, introduced the West to the vertigo of permanent death: every fallen unit is lost forever. Restarting an entire chapter just to save an archer became a rite of passage.
