For the first time, Konami tied the series directly into literature: John Morris is the son of Quincey Morris, the character who dies killing Dracula in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel. It was also the debut of composer Michiru Yamane, future author of Symphony of the Night's score, and its mirror effects, tilting towers, and water squeezed more out of the Mega Drive than almost anything else on the system.
