SEGA's sci-fi saga closed out with manga-style panels, combat macros that chained combos between party members, and a thousand-year plot connecting three games. It launched at around a hundred dollars, the most expensive cartridge in the catalog, which capped its sales but never its legend. Worth remembering: the series had already made history back in 1987 with Alis, one of the JRPG's earliest female protagonists.
