Nintendo signed Mike Tyson for around 50 thousand dollars before he was world champion; by the time the game hit shelves, he was the most feared boxer on the planet, and the cartridge was pure gold. When the license expired in 1990, Tyson was swapped out for the generic Mr. Dream. Little Mac, the undersized fighter who beats giants by reading their patterns, earned his spot in Smash Bros. on the strength of it.
