Konami answered Resident Evil with pure psychological horror: a town where the dread doesn't jump out at you, it seeps in. Team Silent built the nightmare out of crackling radios, sirens, and a rusted-out Otherworld, while Akira Yamaoka composed industrial screeches that are half soundtrack, half torture device. Cult detail: the town's streets are named after horror and sci-fi writers, like Bachman, Matheson, and Bradbury.
What the staff says
