Insomniac Games, coming off a dark shooter called Disruptor, swerved hard into color: a little purple dragon gliding over impossible meadows, thanks to a level-of-detail technology that drew enormous horizons in 32 bits. The soundtrack was composed by Stewart Copeland, drummer of The Police, who recorded tracks after playing through each level. It was millions of kids' gateway into 3D gaming.
