Ninja Golf came out in 1990, developed by BlueSky Software and published by Atari Corporation, with a premise that perfectly sums up the absurd humor running through much of the 7800's late catalog: a ninja has to complete a round of golf while fighting hand-to-hand against hostile creatures standing between him and each hole, switching back and forth between the golf mechanics and the brawling. Rarely has a game combined two such different genres with this much conviction. Its conceptual weirdness eventually turned it into one of the most-cited cult pieces in the 7800 catalog, remembered today with more affection than it probably got at launch.
