Football International belongs to that wave of unlicensed soccer simulators that abounded in Europe during Game Boy's early years: teams and competitions with no real names, but with the sport's basic mechanic trimmed down to the essentials for the monochrome screen.
It brought nothing that other titles in the genre weren't already doing, and it got overshadowed by offerings with more identity. Even so, it's part of the landscape of sports releases that accompanied the console during its most austere period.
