A Konami action-adventure starring Goemon, the honourable thief the Japanese company turned into the emblem of a deliriously feudal Japan populated by yokai and jokes. The Game Boy Color version keeps the tone: saturated colour, lively pace, and a mix of exploration and combat.
The series never fully crossed over to the West and remained a cult passion. Today it's worth it for its personality: few games combine Japanese folklore with comedy so cheerfully without turning into a tourist postcard.
