Series 3 of Animal Crossing-e. The card slides through the e-Reader, the reader translates the optical strip, and the GameCube installs the neighbor. Simple to describe, tedious to execute: the sensor was finicky and more than one swipe ended in error. Persisting was part of the ritual. Today the card is valued for its history, not its function.
