This title is part of the 'Chocobo' family of spin-offs that Square Enix branched off from the Final Fantasy universe, centered on the iconic yellow birds and their own folklore of tales and legends. 'Chocobo to Mahou no Ehon' ('Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book') is presented as an interactive picture book, with the witch, the girl, and the five heroes of the subtitle forming the narrative thread of its own fairy tale.
With no release outside Japan, it's one of many minor branches Square Enix cultivated with the Chocobo brand during the DS years, designed for a children's and family audience rather than for the traditional Final Fantasy RPG fan.
