After... Wasureenu Kizuna leans on drama and human-relationship plots told through the classic visual-novel format: text, character portraits, and decisions that branch the story. Like much of these titles, it reached Dreamcast at the moment when the console became, in Japan, a de facto haven for porting PC visual novels.
It's a game aimed exclusively at the Japanese readership of the genre, with no intention of crossing borders. Its value today is more documentary than playable for anyone who doesn't read the language: one more piece of that late wave of interactive fiction that defined much of the console's final catalog in Japan.
