Hitmaker distilled arcade gaming down to its essence: pick up fares, tear through San Francisco, and shave off seconds with drifts and combos. The destinations were real brands like Pizza Hut and KFC — product placement that modern re-releases had to strip out once the licenses expired. The soundtrack, with The Offspring and Bad Religion screaming Ya-ya-ya-ya-yah!, is as much a part of the game as the taxi itself.
