Sonic Adventure took Sega's hedgehog into three dimensions with a structure that blended dizzying speed levels with open-world exploration around the city of Station Square, switching between six playable characters -Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Big, and Gamma- each with their own style of play. Developed by Sonic Team, it was one of Dreamcast's most important launch titles and the console's great technical calling card in the West.
For an entire generation, it's the gateway into three-dimensional Sonic, and it remains a key piece for understanding both Dreamcast's identity and the direction the franchise would take in the years that followed, with its wins in speed and camera work alongside limitations that time itself has since made plain.
