Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo in 2005, was the first Fire Emblem designed specifically for a home console, with Ike -a young mercenary- leading an army that grows and specializes throughout a continental war, within the turn-based tactical combat and permanent death system that has defined the saga since its Famicom origins. It was also Ike's introduction to Western audiences, a character who would later become a regular in the Super Smash Bros. roster: today it's remembered as one of the franchise's best entries, with a mature narrative and a difficulty balance the specialized press still praises.
