Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets sigue la estructura de aventura y exploración de Hogwarts que EA Games ya había ensayado en el juego anterior, esta vez con la trama del segundo libro de J.K. Rowling: la Cámara de los Secretos, el basilisco y la sospecha que recae sobre Harry como heredero de Slytherin.
Como el resto de adaptaciones de la saga en esa etapa, prioriza recorrer el castillo y aprender hechizos por sobre el combate directo.
