1500 DS Spirits was a Japanese line of tightly budgeted games that brought classic tabletop pastimes to the DS at a token price; this second volume is dedicated to shogi, with a correct rules engine and difficulty levels aimed at those just starting to study the game. There's no narrative or characters: the pitch is the board and nothing else.
As a collector's piece it has little shine, but as a practice tool it still delivers: shogi is a game that demands repetition, and having a patient, silent opponent in your backpack remains a legitimate use for that DS nobody carries around anymore.
