Arkanoid DS revisits the formula Taito established in 1986 — a paddle, a ball, and rows of bricks to smash with power-ups falling from above — and adapts it to touch control, which replaces the dial or joystick of the arcade versions with a different but equally direct precision. For the audience that grew up with the original in arcades, this version works as a comfortable way to return to that formula without losing what matters: the tension of chaining bounces until the screen is clear.
