After Burner II is Sega's 1987 arcade sequel, an aerial combat sim aboard an F-14 Tomcat that prioritizes speed and spectacle over realism. Its MSX conversion, published by Activision in 1988, had to give up much of that sense of vertigo to fit hardware far more modest than Sega's arcade boards. It's the kind of port that today gets studied more as an exercise in adaptation than as the ideal way to experience the game.
