Daiva Story 4 - Asura's Bloodfeud is the MSX chapter of an unusual project: Daiva, conceived by Yasuo Yoshikawa for T&E Soft, told the same overarching story across seven different installments, each developed for a different Japanese computer — PC-8801, FM-77AV, Sharp X1, MSX, MSX2, Famicom, and PC-9801 — each with its own team and its own visual interpretation. It's a war-simulation game where the player's fleet grows over time, and it even allowed sharing ships between players of different versions through passwords.
That "one saga, seven simultaneous platforms" architecture makes Daiva one of the boldest — and most forgotten — experiments of mid-'80s Japanese software. The MSX installment in particular is remembered for the care put into its action scenes.
