Front Mission for WonderSwan Color is a straight conversion of the Wanzer mech tactics game Square originally released for the Super Famicom in 1995, with no new content over the original: the same squads, the same turn-based combat system with body-part-localized damage, now squeezed onto Bandai's handheld screen. It hit the Japanese market in July 2002, well into the console's commercial twilight. For series fans it's more a catalog curiosity than a reinvention: the true remake with extra content would arrive a year later on PlayStation under the name Front Mission 1st, leaving this handheld version as a faithful but unsurprising footnote.
