AFL Live 2003 took the rules of Australian football — that hybrid of rugby, Gaelic football, and something all its own — and brought them to PS2 with teams and players from the real league, aiming squarely at the local market where the sport is a religion. Like almost every regional niche sports simulator, it prioritized faithfulness to the rules and rosters over technical ambition. It's a game that barely crossed borders and today survives as a testament to an era when every major sports league eventually got its own official console game.
