Developed by Tecmo, it revisits the original Rygar myth -a warrior armed with the Diskarmor, a disc-shaped weapon attached to a chain- to rebuild the legend of Argos through three-dimensional action and exploration, with platforming, melee combat, and large-scale bosses. Critics treated it as one of PS2's pleasant surprises of 2002, backed by tidy level design and satisfying combat for its time.
It's a little-remembered example of the classic-license revival PS2 tested at the start of its life, before the third-person action-adventure genre exploded with the next generation.
