Adapting the acclaimed animated series directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the game puts the player in command of Section 9 on missions that combine infiltration, hacking and tactical combat against cyber threats, faithful to the political science-fiction tone that set Stand Alone Complex apart from other Ghost in the Shell adaptations. It's one of the few adaptations of the series designed specifically as a tactical game rather than a direct-action shooter. It stayed exclusive to Japan, aimed at followers of one of the most respected anime series of its generation.
