Arashi no Yoru ni is based on Yuuichi Kimura's popular series of illustrated books, which also had its own animated film, about the unusual friendship between Gabu, a wolf, and Mei, a goat, who meet in the dark during a storm without knowing they belong to naturally opposed species. The video game carries that endearing premise into the DS format.
It's an example of how the console's Japanese catalog absorbed literary and children's properties deeply rooted in local culture, something that rarely crossed borders: the game, like the book, never got a release outside Japan.
