Boggy '84 takes up the central idea of Dig Dug —digging tunnels underground while dodging or eliminating enemies that emerge from below— with its own visual and character twist. It's representative of how many variants that underground-maze game mold produced in the first half of the 80s. Today it's remembered as a curiosity within the huge family of clones and tributes that Dig Dug's success produced.
