Brix belongs to the extensive family of Breakout-derived games: a paddle that bounces a ball against rows of blocks, with power-ups and layers of difficulty that pile on as the screens go by. It's a format the industry exploited over and over since the late 70s for its effective simplicity. It doesn't seek to reinvent the formula but to execute it competently, in line with dozens of variants that circulated in arcades worldwide under different names.
