Candory is an unauthorized copy of Ponpoko, the 1982 maze game in which a raccoon gathers food while dodging farmers, with the added twist that this pirate version dresses the protagonist in Mario's likeness, capitalizing on the popularity Nintendo's character already had in arcades. It circulated in the typical early-80s bootleg-board circuit. It's one more example of how arcade piracy of the era not only cloned other people's games but also borrowed third-party characters to make the machine more appealing on the floor.
