Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon 2003 is one of those typical products of the unauthorized board circuit that circulated through arcades in Latin America and Asia in the early 2000s: a fighting game combining characters and assets taken from other fighting titles under an appealing name, with no real connection to Ang Lee's film that gives it its title.
It's an interesting case study on the era's board piracy, more than a fighting game with its own identity: the name worked as a commercial hook in arcades where the software's origin was almost never questioned.
