Elevator Action puts the player in the shoes of a spy descending a skyscraper full of enemy agents, collecting secret documents from red doors while using the elevators both to move around and to crush rivals. The combination of shooting, platforming, and that tactical use of the elevator gave it an immediately recognizable identity.
It's one of the pillars of Taito's catalog and a foundational piece for the vertically structured action genre: its influence shows in dozens of later titles that revisited the idea of traveling a building level by level under constant pressure.
