3-D Red Baron puts the player in the cockpit of a Great War biplane, fighting aerial duels against enemy squadrons in a three-dimensional environment, following the flight-simulator craze that flourished on 16-bit computers in the late 80s. The title draws on the figure of the Red Baron, Manfred von Richthofen, as the central reference for the period's air combat.
It's a niche game within a niche genre: appealing above all to those who enjoy historical flight simulators more than pure arcade action, with graphics that today read as a technical curiosity of their time.
