Air-Sea Battle was part of the original 1977 Atari 2600 launch lineup, back when the console was still being sold as a novelty and the entire catalog could be counted on one hand. It's essentially a collection of shooting variants: tanks, planes, and submarines facing off in fixed scenarios, designed for two players and the short tabletop matches that defined that first generation.
Its value today is purely archaeological: there's no narrative ambition or progression, just the foundational gesture of aiming and shooting that the whole industry would later go on to refine. It's the kind of cartridge that explains, better than any lecture could, where everything else came from.
