9 Lives is one of many cat-protagonist platformers that populated the European 8- and 16-bit catalog, with the title playing on the superstition of a cat's nine lives. As with much of the minor catalog of the time, today it survives mostly in the memory of collectors and in Atari machines' compatibility lists. There is no firm data on the studio or exact year of this particular title, something common among the hundreds of low-profile games that circulated through magazines and catalogs of the European Atari scene.
