Adventureland is the first text adventure published by Scott Adams for his Adventure International label, the "adventure number 1" of that numbered catalog which popularized the format on home computers in the late seventies, with the Atari 8-bit among its longtime platforms. It has players explore an enchanted forest and solve puzzles with the typical two-word (verb-object) commands that defined the genre before the mouse existed.
Playing it today is like returning to the origin of the text adventure: absolute economy of resources, a map you have to draw by hand, and that feeling of standing before the founding stone of a genre that later flourished with Infocom and Level 9. This particular build is a late revision (v3.9) of the original version, with no substantive changes to the classic design.
