Bump 'n' Jump brings the Data East arcade formula to the Atari 2600: races where ramming rivals against the edge of the track destroys them, while ramps scattered along the way let you jump over traffic and obstacles. It's an aggressive twist on the racing genre, closer to a vehicular combat game than to a pure speed simulation. Its mix of crashes, jumps, and maze-like tracks made it one of the most beloved arcade conversions in the 2600's late catalog, at a time when the console already coexisted with more powerful systems but kept getting solid adaptations of arcade hits.
