Unlike the against-the-clock or positional races that dominated the genre on the 2600, "Enduro" has you passing a minimum number of vehicles each racing day in order to advance to the next one, with changing weather and visibility conditions — fog, snow, sunset — that keep shifting the challenge without ever stopping the action. That endurance-based structure, rather than pure speed, gave it its own identity within Activision's catalog.
It's still mentioned as one of the best driving games on the 2600, appreciated for how it achieves variety and mounting tension without ever changing its base mechanic.
