Kasumi Ninja came out in 1994, developed by Hand Made Software and published by Atari Corporation, at the height of the fighting-game craze the Street Fighter II vs. Mortal Kombat rivalry had unleashed: one-on-one fights between ninja warriors, with special moves and their own fatalities, digitized from real actors. The technical execution and controls fell well below the standard the competition had already set. Over time it became almost synonymous with the Jaguar's reputation as an "iconic bad game," cited over and over in retrospectives on the console's stumbles, though it retains a certain curiosity charm among those who collect system rarities.
