Koffi: Yellow Kopter is the work of programmer Ron Lloyd, who released it through AtariAge as part of the 5200's homebrew revival: on fixed screens across four stages per level, the player must collect water, dodge obstacles, and rescue animals in distress with a yellow helicopter, all with a fast, direct arcade pace. To fill out the cast of creatures to rescue, Lloyd ran a contest open to the community and picked about twenty fan submissions to include in the final version. It's a good example of how the 5200's homebrew scene combines classic 80s game design with collective-participation dynamics that didn't exist in the console's original era.
