London Blitz, published by Avalon Hill in 1983 for the Atari 2600, casts the player as a corporal in the Royal Engineers during the German bombing of London: first you have to check a map of the city to locate where the bombs fell, then race against the clock to defuse them before they explode and cause casualties or damage. Avalon Hill, better known for its strategy and war board games, brought that same devotion to historical simulation into a more immediate action format. It's an uncommon title within the 2600's catalog for approaching war from a defensive rather than offensive angle.
