Pole Position II is the Atari 7800 conversion of the sequel to Namco/Atari Games' influential racing arcade, adding new circuits — including layouts based on real tracks like Suzuka — to the first-person, race-against-the-clock formula that had made the original Pole Position famous.
It's one of the sturdiest entries in the racing genre within the 7800's early catalog, a direct heir to an arcade game that defined much of the visual language of driving games in the early '80s.
