Red Sea Crossing, published in 1983 for exclusive mail-order sale by Inspirational Video Concepts, with no connection to Atari, offers a side-scrolling game based directly on the biblical episode of the Exodus, being one of the first —if not the first— to bring a Scripture narrative to a home console. Its existence went completely unnoticed for decades until a copy turned up at a garage sale in 2007, and it wasn't until 2011 that its authenticity was confirmed when an original ad was found in a 1983 issue of Christianity Today magazine. That rediscovery story, combined with its extremely small original print run, made it one of the rarest and most sought-after cartridges in the entire Atari 2600 library, well beyond its purely playable interest.
