Ultra Vortek came out in 1995, developed by Beyond Games and published by Atari Corporation, in the full craze of digitized-real-actor fighting games that Mortal Kombat had established: one-on-one fights between warriors with exaggerated physiques, with bloody special moves and a dark aesthetic designed to capture that same audience. The technical execution once again fell below the standard already set by 32- and 64-bit competition from other brands. It's one of several attempts Atari made to join the digitized-fighting wave on the Jaguar, with uneven results that today are revisited more out of historical curiosity than gameplay relevance.
