Capcom vs. SNK pits the Street Fighter and King of Fighters rosters against each other for the first time, under rules that aim to balance each fighter's power through a 'ratio' system, allowing teams of two or three characters to be built according to relative strength. Developed by Capcom, it was the answer to both sagas' fans' long-held dream of finally seeing them share the same game.
This Dreamcast version arrived shortly after the arcade release and laid the groundwork for a crossover saga Capcom would keep exploiting in the years that followed, with this first entry remembered today as the somewhat rougher starting point of that idea.
