Doguu Senki - Haou takes as its starting point the dogū, the clay figurines from the Jōmon period that are part of Japanese archaeological imagery, and turns them into protagonists of a fantastical combat story. It's a curious example of how Dreamcast's Japanese catalog explored very local cultural references to build game premises.
It remained a Japan exclusive, with no significant impact even within the local market itself. Its interest today is more anthropological than playable: a demonstration of the thematic freedom with which niche catalogs were assembled in the console's home stretch.
