Flipull - An Exciting Cube Game arrived in Game Boy's launch window, when Taito was exploring what kind of puzzles worked best on the small screen. The mechanic is simple and effective: you push cubes across a grid until two of the same color collide and vanish, with the pressure of a move or time limit depending on the mode. Like so many puzzles from that first wave, it needs no introduction to work: anyone understands the rule in seconds. It's remembered today as part of the console's early catalog archaeology, useful for seeing how the genre searched for its identity before Tetris set the standard.
