2002 FIFA World Cup is the official FIFA license for the South Korea/Japan World Cup, developed by EA Canada, featuring all 32 qualified national teams, real stadiums, and the chance to play through the entire tournament just as it happened that year. It came out months before the World Cup, riding the football fever surrounding the first World Cup held in Asia. It's a period document of EA Sports football before the FIFA series fully settled into its 3D identity: today it's of interest more as a 2002 football time capsule than as a gameplay reference, long since surpassed by the franchise's own later entries.
